A Week unblogged...

Yes, I've been a bit slack on the blogging front... so time to make up for that.

ColeMarie, who I have mentioned more than a dozen times here in dispatches, has won the prize of Iz 30,000 for the best machinima of Gulliver's World, a sim by Ub Yifu on one of Jeri Rahja's sponsored sims in InWorldz. Jeri was the generous sponsor of the prize money too. I am also a judge on the photography prize... the results of which will be announced shortly.

If you don't know Cole, I did a nice interview with her on Koinup when I used to blog for them. She is, as I have said before, a very talented machinimist who has used this as a new medium rather than trying to make a poor video [the stage that I am still at], and manages, as she did/does with photographs, to raise the bar. I first blogged about her 3 years ago, almost exactly to the day regarding photographs.

On the subject of photographs....

...this one amused me. Giancarla Loon, a very good friend and customer of long standing came to visit me at Transubstantiation, juggling dog, monkey and baby..... but the look on my face seems to express my own feelings on motherhood... or is it just projection?

I guess I would rather be Rock and Roll....

....this was a brief interlude in my crazy build mania of last week.

...and I also managed to pop over to Betty Tureaud's build at Pirats too...

I tried to find out why the SL forum peeps are so dismayed at Rodvik's 'desertion' to FB, some of them felt like they had been jilted... but in order to get in to the pages it seems like you must "Like" them first, which I was pretty disgusted by really. Well, not REALLY disgusted, but, I mean, if that's the only way you can be liked....hmmm... well, you know what I'm sayin'.

Still, the idea that bouncing boobs is gonna reinvigorate SL is kinda worse really. Most of those that use TPV's already have enough wobble to satisfy. I can imagine the following promo video spawning a new wave of noobs with pink balloons pinned to their trouser fronts....

Always good to know LL is trying to enrich the worlds intellectual and cultural life....

Still, now that they have advertised for a new Social Media Guru [guru is sooo 90's] then I guess they will figure out what to do with a few 'likes' on FB... how to monetarise, to quote Miso.

Miso has done a marathon post on Rebecca Black, here who, it seems, has got the media and bullies out in force to tell each other how terrible her first song is...well....seems a mite unfair. My first painting was crap too (I guess), and , if she was your daughter you'd be proud.....and 84 million hits is not to be sniffed at.

Nepherses has done a great post about the native flora of VWs for the plant buffs amongst you... I did blog a bit about Dark Moon earlier last month....
.... and it's well worth a visit.

Now, on the art scene there is soo much going on I have totally lost track, I will have to blog about who is doing what with whom and where at some future time when I have my Blogger's Hat on... currently I'm a bit post-natal... (but bearing up...thank's to those of you who said such nice things about the build).

Well, that should do for a bit, sorry it's a bit all over the place...:)) "normal service will be resumed..."...hehehheehe

Stuff

The time has come round to wander over to UWA and start looking round the entries for January as the possibility of entering anything is slowly drawing to a close. The above image is of me examining Aliz's entry... Ophion's Egg... you have to get pretty close to hear the sound track which Aliz has fitted...

I'll be wandering around later this week to spot a few choice bits and pieces to blog..

Roshina Opaline opened her new shop this week in IWz, check out her profile for LM...and more and more top quality shopping is appearing. I looked back to my first post on de-ruthing in Iwz.. this is quite amusing...

..now Inworldz is nearing 30,000 users (just 4,000 in June) and 800 regions the economic possibilities are driving more and more content creators to set up shop... so I look nearly decent , at last....it's been 6 months really.

I rebuilt my set of mushroom seats around a fire in IWz yesterday and I've dragged my butterflies over too... above photo of Nur sitting in the fire.... don't ask....

While we are on InWorldz.... Whiskey has a new blogger's challenge... here.....and it's a good blog to check out for fashion tips, and of course, the humour...:))

...and another good post by Bebe concerning skins and diversity..... here.

Book the 17th of February to go visiting InWorldz, if not before, as there is a major piece of work opening by one of our best artists. I am resisting the temptation to blog it before it is finished ... Gulliver's World, for those who are wondering. The genius that is Ub Yifu is doing staggering work here.... it is of such a quality that it's a game-changer. InWorldz will start to have better builds than SL... I say better, and that sounds like a subjective valuation, but, when you can easily have double the prims on an Iwz sim than in SL, the effect is of a richness devoid of bare patches of grass where the prims ran out, it's simply prim rich.

That possibility is one of the factors that is attracting the talented builders here... the other is the tools.

Have a good one....

Lots of bits..

Well, in no particular order.....stuff:

Last week I popped along to Kelly Yap's Newcomers and Friends Gallery ... here.. to see Miso's photography work. Miso is doing a mass of shows at the moment while moving house and probably X number of other multitasking events. Full details of all her 6 shows....here.

...anyway, while I was there I had a look around, and, wow, it's a great gallery. Upstairs I was very happy to see Penelope Parx's sculpture, particularly the Resistance Is Not Futile and the one pictured below... I had not seen them since UWA and was glad to see that I was right at the time (in my own mind (always)) that they are great pieces of work.

...I also was pleased to see work by some 'old' favs... namely, Trill, Aliz, Corcosman, Fiona Leitner as well as people who's work I didn't know, the "newcomers and friends".... Neeks Karu, Alcibedes Zemeni, Louly Loon, and others....sorry if I missed a few, but it is quite a collection.
Congrats to Kelly for getting so much good stuff in one place.
I'm gonna be planting a few trees there in January, which will be cool.

And... UWA, Jayjay tp'ed me over to see this great piece...

It's by Faery Sola ..:)) very well done. I would be surprised if this doesn't walk away with a prize in the next UWA round.

Well, kissing me while asleep...it sort of reminded me of another Ozzie who got into trouble... Apmel got a video of some of the pro-Assange demonstrations in SL... here.

Further news on RMB City and the new mayor from NWN for those interested...here.

On the InWorldz news round...well, Elenia has posted a personal account of the first months of IWz ...here. I just love the openness of it all.

I was also invited to see YaDNi's new build , he is recreating the staggering cathedral build by Gaudi, Sagrada Familia, a building which in RL is still not finished.. some Flickr photos here.

Then Thirza Ember has been grid hyperhopping with the Pathfinder group in an amazing trip which she documents ...here. It is just a small band of intrepid travellers so far, but they are the real pioneers, currently.

...and for the technically minded...well...Kirsten has more good news on the TPV front with a new release (for Macs too...Kirsten is a gem)...details here, along with an extensive report, courtesy of Tateru Nino, about client detection systems, which some have started to use to protect their shops.. (crap apparently).. details here.

So, plenty going on at the moment,

.... that should keep you busy for a while..
