Alizarin camping and other stuff.

Last night saw the opening of Alizarin Goldflake's latest immersive piece....and we all went camping by the light of the fill moon.

It's here....and very much worth a visit. Aliz's delicate handworked textures are always a pleasure and we sat around the campfire and chatted...

The Mysterious Forest is quite a tangle to get into and very atmospheric... that light reminded us all of various camping trips, desert and beach..... *sigh*...

Merlina and I kept the spiders off a snoring Miso....

Full details of the build are here.

I popped over to UWA to deliver a little build for the February Round... and came across this piece by Garnet Trilling... no guesses as to why I was interested...

...and I got mesmerised by Gingered Alsops piece... she has entered the UWA machinima competition with a piece ...here.

...in other news.....

"today the Second Life Forums, Blogs, Knowledge Base and SL Answers are now temporarily in read-only mode. This means that everything housed within the http://blogs.secondlife.com site is available for you to read, but you cannot post comments--or contribute content--until we launch our new community platform"

...now the cynical amongst us will say that it makes no difference anyway as none of the Boys read the stuff we write, or if they do, they ignore it....but not me...(much)... Wow, can I wait til the 2nd March...the excitement is intense .. (more exciting in tents, actually)..

I wrote a well composed and respectful email to the Boys a while back, just telling them how to run their company, but I haven't received a reply as yet. I guess they are all a bit busy.

I'm sure replying to me is at the top of someone's list.

Acquarella by Alizarin Goldflake

There are many of you who are familiar with Aliz's work I'm sure.

Aliz is an artist in both worlds and has that dedication that lifts her out of the Casual Doodler category into that of a professional as can be seen on her website if you haven't caught her shows in SL yet.

So, after an initial machinima which she took herself of her build "Acquarella", she determined to make an offering for the World Trade Fair in Shanghai.

I was involved as one of the nymphs along with BridgetMarlene McDonnell and Yman Juran , all credited on the machinima below. Chantal Harvey filmed it and cut and edited it to a suitable length for showing in China.

We rehearsed, Aliz rewrote, we rehearsed, Aliz tweaked, etc.... until we knew what we were doing, and Aliz was happy...see the result below.

Colour, No Colour was one of the themes which organiser Aino Baar from OPEN THIS END wanted for the show, and so this little fable fits well within that category.

Direction was by Corcosman Voom and the smooth voice and narration by Alfred Ajami ....all in all a huge amount of work, well done to all involved.

The Best of Soror

soo....a new show, thanks to Juanita of Virtual Treeline Galleries.

I have set out some of my newer work along with some very early stuff, like my first prim and my first flower, and tried to put these things alongside my most recent textures, trees, flowers and prims. The Best of Soror, like a compilation CD....:)))

It's really to show an outline of what I have been up to for the last three years......... not only of personal interest cos I think it shows what new builders can do if they keep at something and develop it.......hehhehe.... funny to see my first sculptie, it's really crap, but I have also a shelf of my best ones too.

I have also shown some of the stages in my search for the ultimate low prim tree, a sort of chronological arrangement of my flowers and my most recent textures.

There are some very old trees upstairs, including the 4th Ancient One, alongside The Bubble Tree which is my 94th Ancient, and downstairs is my very latest tree...called "Tree Sisters", the 95th Ancient One.

Anyway....the show starts at 2 PM SLT Sunday, 21st March at The Virtual Treeline Gallery...

Virtual Treeline is an interesting project and one worth supporting, you can read a bit about it here or talk to Juanita Deharo, who is a very good artist and an all-round Good Egg.

Do pop over if you have time, it's next to Alizarin Goldflake's place where we had a great party last night to celebrate her new gallery ....the layout is very cool and the sort of thing I love to see....room to cam around and plenty of space given to her lovely pieces.

Colemarie Soleil played live last night and unfortunately the sim was full and it was my bed time..... no suprise here, then.... she's such a popular person as well as having a great voice.

Ah well, let's hope you do this more frequently Colie....
