Islands went from $1000USD to $1695USD.... for just a short period of time. Then they returned to $1000USD.) I is still awaitin' on my $695USD rebate. Oh, that's right, that was 3 years ago. Guess there's a statute of limitations there =^..^=

Curious about triangles? Just one slightly dodgy script can bring a whole sim to a grinding halt .... and theres a lot of 'moving parts' in a mesh....so I'll wait and see.sororNishihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17385408562954387986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8590156455847470480.post-7380416374523140952011-06-17T17:20:15.981-07:002011-06-17T17:20:15.981-07:00Geometry is a strange thing... a graphics card is ...Geometry is a strange thing... a graphics card is concerned with faces and the triangles that make them up. Many of those "2-prim trees" actually have upwards of 40-80 "faces" that are made up of triangles; each of those faces is constantly being viewed from changing angles; that is an incredible amount of polygon calculating and why a couple of those "two -prim trees" can bog the heck out of you depending on your graphic card's pipelines and throughput, not to mention your bandwidth.

These geometry arguments aren't as simple as they are made out to be.Miso Susanowahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14628657533849686313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8590156455847470480.post-32254753957369495852011-06-17T00:15:36.751-07:002011-06-17T00:15:36.751-07:00Yes, there were a few people who wondered if they ...Yes, there were a few people who wondered if they could introduce mesh properly or if they would mess it up on the way. Like Windlight it is possible that they only do half the job and wait for years before completing the task.

There are likely to be far less restrictions on Open Sim tho for mesh, so it may be best to wait for that. I can't see any Mesh Permit being required there.sororNishihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17385408562954387986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8590156455847470480.post-68492183899280358322011-06-16T17:20:29.064-07:002011-06-16T17:20:29.064-07:00Gak. All those layoffs and yet it's the worst of the bunch that somehow managed to stay on. Figures.

First off mesh should cost NOTHING to upload. There is no technological basis for tacking on additional charges. It costs enough to rent land to rez things on.

Second it's up to creators to decide how much geometry they want to deploy on their land - not LL. Didn't they learn their lesson with the "10cm gap", with "megaprims"? Of course not, that would have taken vision. Typical LL policy, making bad choices today that will persist for years to come; hobbling the entire platform just to pander to the lowest common denominator.

I've been with mesh since it was announced, best idea they ever had, and yet it looks like they're going to butcher it before it even has a chance. Either they do this right, or I'm done with SL, for good this time.Matthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13167273849606734547noreply@blogger.com
